WYCLEF JEAN ADDRESSES HAITI VICTIMS BEING MACED, “I’M GONNA SPEAK W/ THE HEAD OF THE UN”

Wyclef Jean has addressed the recent footage and accounts of Haiti victims being maced by United Nations officials last week.

According to Jean, he does not approve of the security tactic and will address the matter with the UN president.
“When I saw that macing, Whoo Kid, I was ecstatic and p*ssed off,” Wyclef told DJ Whoo Kid in an interview. “I was there doing a food drive and when I was on my way to the food drive, I saw that long line with the UN and it’s like, if I was on they line and I was in the front of htat line with the UN, I would have clearly told them you can’t mace nobody. If you spend eight or nine days and don’t eat, you’re gonna wild out. Period. We do not approve the macing and we’re not going for it. I’m gonna speak with the head of the UN about that.” (Radio Planet TV)
Jean also addressed the mace controversy on his Twitter page.

“The UN should not be spraying mase on my people Faces, it is simply unacceptable! They have to improve their food distribution methods! Someone from the UN should call me now this is not Cool and I have lost my Cool!” (Wyclef Jean’s Twitter)

Artists like Jay-Z and Rihanna have helped raise millions in relief funds for Haiti.

The “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon, led by George Clooney and Haiti-born rapper Wyclef Jean, has raised more than $57 million for relief to the earthquake-ravaged country, organizers said on Saturday. They called the $57 million a record for public donations in a disaster relief telethon, and said the figures were still “preliminary” as they exclude donations by corporations and large private donors and sales figures on website iTunes. Organizers said the “Hope for Haiti Now” album was the biggest one-day album pre-order in iTunes history and was currently No. 1 on iTunes’ album chart in 18 countries. (ABC News)
The telethon also featured pop stars including Madonna and Shakira.

JUELZ SANTANA READY FOR PRESIDENTIAL RETURN, SET TO DROP ‘REAGAN ERA’ ON V-DAY

Skull Gang leader Juelz Santana has updated fans on the delayed release of his Reagan Era mixtape.

According to Santana, the mixtape will be released on Valentine’s Day next month.

“I know the label got a job, but sometimes the artists think the label’s gotta do everything,” Santana told DJ Kay Slay. “Like sometimes, the label thinks the artists gotta do everything so you know like I say, I come from that groundwork, doing the mixtapes, getting our exposure and the Internet wasn’t even half as big as it is today to where I can do the free promotion, videos. So now it’s even funnier for me to lay the groundwork because you’ll be in the studio, freestyles, shoot videos, put em out and the whole world sees them the next day so I’m in six gears, I tell n*ggas. I’m only in second — I’m just gearing up to get people used to seeing Juelz Santana just in case they forgot…I just switched over to second, the release of the [Lil] Wayne song and my mixtape will be out the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. I’m giving y’all that because I love y’all so much. All free. It’s all about getting them to come back used to me, I got a plan.” (Best of Both Offices)
Santana recently spoke with SOHH about his Born To Lose, Built To Win album release.

“Born To Lose, Built To Win, that’s the name of my new album and I’m used to getting nothing and turning it into something,” Santana explained. “It ain’t no Def Jam delay, it ain’t no delay, I’m just waiting day-to-day, watching the game and paying attention. I ain’t wanna rush an album, I wanna keep it relevant, keep all the pieces right there. I’m just strategically doing things and I don’t want to just ‘drop’ an album. In this day and age, it feels like you gotta give people more so I want them to want for Juelz Santana to over succeed and oversee everything else, I really need to be there. They know when you’re dropping a record from the videos and songs, so they want more than that. I’m still putting out my mixtape, Reagan Era, and I’m probably gonna put out another mixtape before my album. I’m still gonna takeover, make these records for the radio, might not all be on my album, I still got a little time before my album drops so I’m gonna just heat the streets up, I’m gonna get all up in n*ggas’ faces, just doing a lot of records, doing a lot of things, staying relevant.” (SOHH)
